Demonstration

Why are demonstrations at the heart of GEXTRECS?

Demonstrations are recognized as powerful tools that can significantly enhance the effectiveness of knowledge sharing, especially with regard to tacit knowledge that requires direct interaction and experience. They provide participants with a unique practical possibility to understand how something works and, at the same time, learn how to do something.

The most important considerations that positioned demonstrations at the centre of the GEXTRECS project is that they:

  • enable validating concepts, components and processes in near real-life situations,
  • catalyse interdisciplinary collaboration and mutual learning within the project team,
  • encourage deeper engagement with the topic to meet the actual needs of End-Users,
  • offer a powerful platform to raise awareness on advantages and limitations of technological solutions, and
  • foster collective action of a diverse range of stakeholders.

Lessons learnt from practical demonstrations will inform the development of a GOVSATCOM Crisis Management Service Pack Roadmap. This Roadmap will delineate a technological path to address gaps identified by stakeholders during demonstrations regarding technical, operational and security features. In addition, insights provided by demonstrations will inform policy recommendation, focusing on regulatory flexibility needs and necessary legal frameworks for operational and technological advancements derived from the GOVSATCOM use cases in the area of massive crisis management.
