Meeting “Funding opportunities for space technologies under Horizon Europe”
- Krzysztof Grotkowski
Polish Space Agency together with National Center for Research and Innovation and National Contact Point for EU Research Programmes, organized an Information meeting ‘Funding opportunities for space technologies under Horizon Europe’ on 10th December 2024 in Warsaw.
During the event, experts from Polish Space Agency, EU Agency for Space Programme and National Contact Point for EU Research Programmes presented current opportunities for cooperation and funding of projects from the Copernicus, Galileo, Govsatcom, SSA, Horizon Europe Framework Programme and talked about the newly established space partnership.
Mrs Ewelina Kaatz Dzeżdżon, PhD and the GEXTRECS project manager in POLSA, shared her experience in managing and implementing EU projects on the example of ENTRUSTED and GEXTRECS. The event was attended by around 80 participants from both academia and business.
ENTRUSTED (European Networking for satellite Telecommunication Roadmap for the governmental Users requiring Secure, inTeroperable, InnovativE and standardiseD services) was one the preparatory activities for EU GOVSATCOM - a new component of the European Space Programme (2021-2027). The aim of the GOVSATCOM initiative was to provide guaranteed, reliable, and cost-effective access to secure SatCom capacities and services for governmental users in Member States and EU institutions and agencies that manage safety and security-critical missions and operations, surveillance activities and operate critical infrastructures. Successful EU GOVSATCOM required a clear definition of the users of potential services, their needs and associated requirements. It was important to ensure that future GOVSATCOM services would comply with user requirements to the maximum extent. The project was successfully completed in May 2023.
GEXTRECS (GOVSATCOM Extreme Events Crisis Management Service) next step of ENTRUSTED, will define and demonstrate an End-to-End GOVSATCOM Service supporting Crisis Management. The GEXTRECS innovation will be demonstrated in two use cases (land and maritime) in real End-User environments, while exploiting synergies with other EU Space Programme components such as Copernicus and Galileo. Annual demonstrations will simulate exercises in land cross-border and multinational maritime use cases. GEXTRECS partners covers the full SATCOM added value chain with GMV, HISDESAT, TTCOMM and the End-Users (ISAR, CSIC) complemented by POLSA as hub of the ENTRUSTED Network Of Users.
