Fostering Synergies in Crisis Management Innovation
GEXTRECS was present and visible at the Security Research Event 2025, which was organised by the European Commission in Warsaw between 24–25 June. This high-level gathering served as an opportunity for collaboration among key Horizon Europe projects committed to advancing crisis management capabilities.
EUSPA invited to their stand three Horizon Europe actions – GEXTRECS, OVERWATCH, and AWARE EU PROJECT – each representing different yet complementary approaches to managing and responding to critical situations using advanced satellite-based technologies. The clustering of these projects, supervised by EUSPA, underlined a shared mission: strengthening European preparedness and response to extreme events through innovation and space-enabled services.
From our perspective, the event provided an invaluable platform for mutual learning and strategic networking. Engaging with fellow project teams allowed for the identification of synergies, exchange of best practices, and the initiation of potential future collaborations. All three projects are tackling crisis management challenges through cutting-edge technological solutions, and this convergence facilitated a fertile ground for cross-pollination of ideas.
Beyond fostering this inter-project dialogue, the Security Research Event 2025 offered GEXTRECS a unique opportunity to present our mission and capabilities to a broader audience, including industry leaders, researchers, policy makers, and potential End-Users. Conversations held during the event allowed the GEXTRECS team not only to raise awareness about the project’s goals – leveraging satellite communications for extreme event management – but also to gather insights and feedback from stakeholders across the crisis management ecosystem.
The interactive discussions highlighted the practical value of the GEXTRECS solution, emphasizing its potential role in enhancing Europe’s resilience to natural and man-made disasters. These engagements are crucial in refining the service to ensure alignment with real-world operational needs.
The GEXTRECS Consortium extends sincere thanks to EUSPA for invitation and valuable exchanges. The Agency’s initiative to organise this clustering opportunity reflects a clear commitment to maximizing the impact of Horizon Europe investments by encouraging cooperation among related projects.
Events like these not only strengthen project visibility but also contribute meaningfully to the development of a cohesive European approach to security and crisis response.
As GEXTRECS continues its journey toward delivering robust, satellite-based crisis communication services, the insights and connections gained during the Warsaw event will undoubtedly shape its trajectory and amplify its impact.
